Q & A with Patricia Reilly and Robyn Klein

Why did you decide to write your book?

Because there wasn’t a book on the market that fulfilled our needs as grandparents, as a joyous book to be shared with our grandchildren. For the type of grandparents that we aspire to be, such a book was very important to us.

What inspired you to write?

For us, a playful approach to life has always been essential in the development of intimate and fulfilling relationships. This book celebrates grand parenting and provides ideas and activities that allows more joy and less anxiety in time spent together.

What was the most rewarding part of the writing process?

The research together and the sheer enjoyment of the idea that this book would assist grandparents everywhere to be the type of grandparent their grandchildren would enjoy being with.

What are your top tips for writing a book?

Creativity always helps and knowledge of your subject is essential! Showing other writers and friends the work in progress and taking on board constructive criticism is insightful.

Why did you decide to self-publish?

A casual conversation with an author who has successfully published with Palmer Higgs instigated our initial meeting with Paul Higgs and the idea took off from there!

We also understood that the opportunity afforded by self-publishing allows first time authors such as ourselves to put our creative endeavours out into a global market.

What do you hope your readers will get out of your book?

Joyous play, creative communication and inspiration. The quirky illustrations can act as a prompt for a vast storehouse of forgotten parental knowledge.

Would you consider writing another book?

Absolutely!! We already have the ideas for the next series.
